(IATA: MDN, ICAO: WARI) Iswahjudi Air Base was established in 1939 by the Dutch under the name Maospati Base, then became an Allied base in 1941, and was taken over by the Japanese in 1942. After Indonesia's independence, this base became the TKR Oedara Workshop (BKO), and was handed over to the Indonesian Air Force on May 5, 1946 before finally being renamed Iswahjudi Air Base in honor of the Posthumous Air Marshal Iswahjudi, a national hero who died in flight on December 14, 1947.
